Gryphon Band
Gryphon Band is the the outdoor marching performance ensemble at Rocky Mount High School. Gryphon Band performs at all home football games, and also travels to various away and playoff games each fall. You can find the marching band performing at several community events in and around the Rocky Mount community including the annual holiday parades. Additionally, the Gryphon Band competes at between 3-4 local and regional competitions each fall. Detailed information can be found on the Gryphon Band tab above.
Concert Band
The concert band is a performing ensemble that meets during the school day and receives 1 course credit. Students enrolled in the beginning or intermediate level courses are placed into the concert band. The concert band builds on the foundational concepts learned in middle school. The concert band performs a variety of different styles of music and performs a minimum of two concerts per year.
Symphonic Band
The symphonic band is a performing ensemble that meets during the school day and receives 1 course credit. Students enrolled in the proficient or advance level courses are placed into the symphonic band. The symphonic band explores the music of the standard wind band repertoire. The symphonic band travels annually to the Eastern District Music Performance Adjudication, and performs 2-3 concerts each year.
Jazz Band
The RMHS Jazz band is volunteer performance ensemble that meets after school in the spring semester. This ensemble explores the basic theory and performance elements of jazz, and performs at the spring concert.
